I love teaching! This will be my third year teaching 7th grade Math at Rossview Middle. Prior to that, I have taught 6th grade math for 10 years, I taught English for 10 years, served as Academic Coach here at Rossview for 4 years, and taught multiple subjects in California for 3 years. I have two children, one in 10th grade, and one in 5th grade. I look forward to getting to know students and parents this school year.

Class Expectations

It is expected that students complete assignments daily. Everything your child needs in class for the day will be written on my board, so students will know what to expect in class for the day.

Students may wish to have the following supplies on hand for math: paper, pencil, a binder, composition notebook.

Students need to complete all work in order to prepare and practice for assessments. It is important that students show their work and all required steps when solving a problem. Please check with your child each day to see if classwork and homework is completed. Typically, classwork not completed will be their homework.

Grading

Grades can be found in PowerSchool. Student grades are not in PLP. Grades in PowerSchool are weighted this year. There are now three categories for grades.

Assessments: At the conclusion of each unit, students will have a unit test. These assessments will count 50% of your child’s final grade.

Practice: Practice includes work in class, quizzes, bellringers, homework and performance-based tasks. The Classwork category will count 40% of your child’s final grade, and Homework category will count for 10%. There will be a penalty for late homework and work will not be accepted if more than three days late.
